Troubleshooting Issues With Your WebStarts Website

If you are having any trouble getting to your live website, take a look at the following reasons why a site may not be available...

Expired Domain Name
WebStarts domain names are set to renew automatically so long as you have a valid credit card on file. If the domain name was canceled or we weren't able to process payment for the domain due to an issue with the card, the domain name may have expired. You can verify the status of your domain as follows...

  1. Click the My Domains tab located in the drop down in the upper right corner of your account dashboard.
  2. Click the Edit pencil icon next to your domain to view the domain details.
  3. Check the expiration date where it says Expires and make sure you have not exceeded that date.

If expired, please contact the WebStarts support team at support@webstarts.com right away so we can help get that back up for you.

If your domain name was originally registered through another provider and has expired, you would need to contact that provider to renew to get that back up.

Expired Premium Plan
The Premium Plan associated with your website must remain current in order to keep your domain name connected to it. If unpaid, you will likely see a message stating that something has gone wrong with your site. You can verify the status of your premium plans as follows...

  1. From your account dashboard, click the Billing tab located in the upper right corner of the page.
  2. Look for the Pro Plus or Business Plan associated with your website and verify the renewal date is current.
  3. If unpaid or expired, click the Pay Now button associated with the site in question.

Once paid your website should be back online within a few moments so long as the domain name is still current.

Domain Name Servers Pointed To Another Provider
If you have chosen to host your website and DNS with WebStarts, you will want to make sure your Name Servers are set as follows...

  1. NS1.WEBSTARTS.COM
  2. NS2.WEBSTARTS.COM

If the Name Servers listed are different, take a look at this for help Editing your Name Servers.

If your domain name is registered elsewhere, take a look at this for help Configuring Your Existing Domain Name properly.

Incorrect DNS Settings
Whether you are managing your DNS with WebStarts or somewhere else, you will want to make sure that your A Record IP address in your DNS is pointed to ours: 3.13.192.206

Take a look at this for help Editing the DNS for your domain name and ensure your A Records are set properly.

If your are managing your DNS elsewhere and simply pointing your A records back to us, you will want to contact your domain provider and have them ensure your A records are pointed properly, again to: 3.13.192.206

Domain Name Disconnected From Site
Double check whether or not you have your domain name associated with the proper website as follows...

  1. From your account dashboard, click the My Domains tab located in the drop down in the upper right corner.
  2. Click the Edit pencil icon next to your domain to view the domain details.
  3. Verify the domain name is associated with the proper website listed in the Point To Site drop down.
  4. Make sure to save any changed made by clicking the Save button.

If you had to change the domain/site association, give it a few minutes after saving to verify those changes.

Network Issues
Make sure you are properly connected to the internet by visiting other websites as well as your own. If you find that you are having trouble accessing other sites as well, you are likely experiencing an issue with your own network or internet connection.

There may be other reasons why your live site is not working, but these should address most of them. Should you still have issues after verifying all the above, reach out to our team at support@webstarts.com ASAP so we can help to get your site back up
