Building a new site to replace an existing site
Whether you are replacing an outdated site built on an older platform, or simply want to give your site a major overhaul, building a new and separate site from the ground up is the best way to go. Take a look at the steps below to see how that can be done from within the same account your site is now...
- From your account dashboard, click the My Sites tab located at the top of the page.
- Click the Create New Website link and then choose a design for your new site from the list of pre-designed website templates.
- Choose your website address - On this page you will want to choose the top, free WebStarts.com address option. Enter a site name in the top field that is similar to your domain name so that it's clear that this new site is related to your primary one, and then click the Continue button.
That's all it takes to create a new site within your account. You can now edit this new site as desired and when ready, contact us to let us know and we will move your premium site features as well as your domain name to this new website.
Note: Make sure to pay close attention to the page names of your old site when creating pages for your new site. If Search Engine position is important to you for a specific page of your old site, make sure that you have the same exact page name created in your new site. When your domain name moves over to the new site, the previously indexed links will no longer work if the page names are different.
