Getting Your Website Found On a Search Engine

The best and fastest way to get ranked by search engines is to upgrade to a WebStarts Pro Plus account. We then submit your new website with it’s unique URL to all of the major search engines.

The first thing you will need to do in order to get placement on search engines is add keywords and a site description to your meta tags within your site. To do this, from the WebStarts editor click on the Pages tab located on the sidebar, then select each page and add the keywords and description in their respective boxes. There are a few things to keep in mind when doing this…

1. All keywords must be relevant to your site content. Having words that are not relevant can actually have a negative affect.

2. Do not repeat any one word too many times. A good rule of thumb is to only list the same word 3 times or less. Any more than that and the search engines think you are trying to cheat.

3. The description should be short and sweet. Don’t make your description too long as it only needs to convey a short message about your site.

Once you have added the keywords and description, you’ll need to submit your website to all of the major search engines (here’s a good article on just how and where to do so). Once submitted, they will ‘crawl’ your site and index it. It can take some time to start showing up towards the front as site traffic, site popularity and backlinks (especially backlinks) all play major roles in where your site is ranked.
