Composing HTML Emails
Composing HTML emails gives you the freedom and ability to have much more control over the look and feel of your email creatives. Take a look at the steps and concepts below to learn how to master the HTML tools...
Editing A Premade Template
- Click the Compose tab to begin composing an HTML email.
- Select whether to send to All Lists or a specific list, enter a Subject and use the Insert into Subject dropdown to insert parameters such as the subscriber name, contact info, date, time, etc.
- If you wish to first browse available premade templates, click Browse Templates.
- To edit an existing text box, image, button link or other content type, simply click on the element and you will be presented with various tools to edit the content and style on the righthand side of the screen. You can toggle to edit your template for mobile devices by clicking the Mobile tab within the Content box.
- To delete an element, click the element once to select it then click the trash can icon that appears. Likewise, you can click the duplicate icon to duplicate the element or drag and drop the handle to change the order of the element.
- Click Save to save your template to your Drafts, click Test to test sending the email to yourself, or click Send to schedule or send the email immediately.
Adding Content To An HTML Template
- Click the Compose tab to begin composing an HTML email.
- Select whether to send to All Lists or a specific list, enter a Subject and use the Insert into Subject dropdown to insert parameters such as the subscriber name, contact info, date, time, etc.
- To add content, make sure the Content tab is selected on the right sidebar, then drag and drop a content widget over the email body. Content is broken down into 8 types:
- Column - You can arrange various elements into 1-4 columns with varying layouts. Drag and drop the Column box into the email body, then select the column style and click Add Content to drag other elements into a column.
- Button - You can add a Call to Action button which links to another website or initiates an email, call or text. Once you drag and drop the button into the email body, you can then click directly on the button to modify its text, style, and action.
- Divider - Dividers are used to add a horizontal line to separate content. Drag and drop the divider, then click it once to edit the divider settings.
- Heading - Add a heading to add a title text box above a section of content. Again, drag and drop where needed, then click to edit.
- HTML - You can insert an HTML embed within the email to embed third party functions like a YouTube video or PayPal payment button. Drag and drop the HTML into the body of the email, then click the element to embed HTML code.
- Image - You can insert your own images or search for free images online as well as edit the images using our built-in image editor. Drag the Image box into the body of the email, then click on the element to upload, search for, or edit an image.
- Menu - The Menu allows you to add a set of links to navigate to other websites or pages on your website. Drag the Menu into the email body and click within the menu to create the links.
- Text - The Text block allows you to add a section of text to your email. Simply drag and drop the Text block into the email body and click to edit.
