How To Charge Taxes On Shipping By State

To charge taxes on shipping costs in addition to the order subtotal, follow these steps.

Step 1. From the dashboard click the Store panel, then click the Taxes tab and click Add Tax Rule.

Step 2. Choose to collect taxes for the United States, uncheck "Collect same rate for entire country," then select the state(s) you wish to apply the tax rule to and click Add.

Step 3. Enter the tax rate you wish to charge for orders shipped to the state, then check the checkbox under the "Tax Shipping" column next to the state, then click Update Tax Rules.

Note: You have the ability to tax some products and not tax others so for each product that is taxed, make sure you have edited the product details and checked the checkbox next to the product price which says "Charge taxes on this product."
