Adding or Renewing A Domain Name

What is a domain?

A domain name, such as www.YourSite.com, is your own personal web address and is what people will use to get to your website. We provide you with the ability to register a brand new domain name or one that you have previously purchased elsewhere.

How do I register a brand new domain name?

To add a new domain name to your website, take a look at the steps below...

  1. Click the 'Add Domain Name' button located in your account dashboard or from your page editor.
  2. Make sure the option to register a brand new domain name is selected.
  3. Enter the domain name in the field provided, choose the appropriate domain extension (.com, .net, etc) and then click 'Check Availability'.
  4. If the domain name you entered is available to be registered and you have an available domain name credit, you will then be asked to enter your registration information for the domain name. ICAAN requires that you keep up to date records for your domain name, including current name, address, email address and phone number. You will be asked to confirm this information from time to time during the life of your domain name so it is critical that this info is accurate.
  5. Once the information has been entered, click the 'Click here to continue' button to complete registration.
  6. Congratulations! Your new domain name has been registered.

How do I add a domain name that I have registered elsewhere?

To add an existing domain name that you have previously registered, take a look at the steps below...

  1. Click the 'Add Domain Name' button located in your account dashboard or from your page editor.
  2. Make sure the option to register a domain name you already own is selected.
  3. Enter the domain name in the field provided, choose the appropriate domain extension (.com, .net, etc) and then click 'Check Availability'.
  4. If the domain name you entered is available to use and you have an available domain name credit, you will receive a Congratulations message letting you know that your domain name has been added.

Before this domain name will work with your website, you will need to point your Name Servers to ours or edit your domain name A record.

How do I get my existing domain name to work with my new website?

If you have added a domain name to your website that you have previously registered elsewhere, you will need to edit the Name Servers for that domain to point to ours in order to get your website working. This would be done with the company where you originally registered the domain. You can find our Name Servers listed below...

NS1.WEBSTARTS.COM
NS2.WEBSTARTS.COM

Note: If you currently have emails associated with your existing domain name, changing these Name Servers will cause your email to stop working. In this case the best thing is to do is change only your “A Records” for your domain to point to 74.122.232.20. This will allow you to continue using your existing email accounts in the way you always have, but still host your website with us. This usually means editing or creating an entry for the www and non-www A record. Please contact your current domain registrar's support team if you have any questions about how to edit your A records.

How do I renew my domain name?

Any domain name that you have registered through us will be automatically renewed so long as the payment for the associated Pro or Pro Plus account remains current. If you have any questions regarding payments due, please click the Billing tab located on your account dashboard to view all of the invoices associated with your account.
